PE Exam with Plumbing Portion

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Plumbing engineers want to earn their professional engineering license status. The link below has information on the NCEES survey to create a plumbing section for professional engineers’ licensure.

With increased storm activity, legionella bacteria in the news, drinking water issues and droughts all around us, isn’t it time to elevate the profession?

Giant Jenga Event

Our team had a great time at ACE Mentor Program of Greater Philadelphia last week! They lost in round 4, but that was better than last year, so we’ll take it. It’s always fun catching up with peers in the industry, as well as supporting a great cause. ACE Greater Philadelphia raised nearly $50,000 to support the students in their program!

Happy Engineers Week!

Happy Engineers Week! Founded by the National Society of Professional Engineers in 1951, Engineers Week is dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated engineering workforce by increasing the understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers.

Some of our engineers shared their story on why they became an engineer. Check out their responses in the video below. What inspired you?

Design Award for Village of St. John

Exciting news! Architectural Alliance recently received a 2022 Design Award from AIA Delaware for their work on Village of St. John! Congratulations to all, and glad we could provide our MEP services to restore of this beautiful project.

Village of St. John is located at Concord Avenue and Market Street in Wilmington, Delaware and is considered the centerpiece of the Brandywine Historic District. Village of St. John was created to provide health and social services for seniors experiencing poverty. The complex contains 53 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom accessible apartments, administrative offices, and supporting services. The units are contained in the former church additions, deans house, and a new three-story addition. The original Church was repurposed as a community space for the entire housing community.

FIRST Robotics Challenge

FIRST Robotics Lego League Challenge – Over the course of 14 weeks, MEA’s Mike Witkowski, worked with several other parents to coach three robotics teams. It was great experience and lots of fun. This year’s challenge revolved around “Energy” and developing ways to improve energy related fields.

The 4th grade team worked on ways to implement Pavegen (https://www.pavegen.com/) – energy generating tiles to power a Nintendo switch. They had hoped to sell it to the 76ers for their score board, but the 76ers did not return the e-mail. The 6th grade team focused on the electric grid issues in Texas. Who knew that Texas is not connected to the (2) main electric grides that serve the rest of the country? The 8th grade team worked on a Moonlight solar panel. Thank you, Stanford University, for a concept…

On January 21st all three teams competed. They gave it their all and had a great time along the way.  Here is a video of the event: https://6abc.com/moorestown-upper-elementary-school-new-jersey-robotics-competition/12739286/

Please encourage the young children in your life to explore STEM related activities. They are the future.

Welcome to the Team, Esmeralda Reese

Meet our newest team member, Esmeralda Reese. She started with MEA in September and is currently enrolled at Delaware County Community College. The thing Esmeralda likes most about engineering is working on Revit and seeing designs come alive. She has really enjoyed learning how to operate the software and read mark ups. Her favorite thing about MEA is the endless learning opportunities and appreciates that her teammates are the most patient and compassionate people she has ever worked with.

Outside of work, Esmeralda like to read self-improvement books, draw, and watch Marvel movies. Her favorite food is Tteokbokki (Korean dish) and she loves the views of the beach. When asked if she views the glass as half empty or half full, it depends on how thirsty she is.

Jill Scarpello 10-Year Anniversary

Congratulations to Jill Scarpello on her 10-year anniversary with MEA! After graduating from Philadelphia University, Jill started working with us and has been an integral part of our CAD department. About 5 years ago, she took the opportunity to help with our transition to REVIT. At times it was trying, but she persevered and has been a steady hand in working with our clients’ different Revit approaches and making the models usable for our team. Please join us in applauding Jill’s journey and wish her continued success!
